ROB BURNETT is a five-time Emmy Award-winning executive producer of "The Late Show with David Letterman." He is also president and chief executive officer of Letterman's production company, Worldwide Pants Inc., where he oversees both "The Late Show with David Letterman" and "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson." Additionally, Burnett serves as co-president of B&B Productions, a production company in the Worldwide Pants family.
Burnett began his career with David Letterman in 1985 as a 22-year-old intern. In 1988 he joined the writing staff of "Late Night with David Letterman" and in 1992 became its head writer. He moved with the show (which became "The Late Show with David Letterman") from NBC to the CBS Television Network, where he continued as head writer through 1996. That year, he became the show's executive producer and assumed the role of president and CEO of Worldwide Pants, Inc. and developed the hit series "Everybody Loves Raymond."
Joining forces with former "Late Show" head writer and supervising producer Jon Beckerman, Burnett has created two critically acclaimed series for network television. Their first project, "Ed," aired on NBC from 2000-2004. "Ed" won Burnett and Beckerman a People's Choice award and earned them an Emmy nomination for writing. In addition to serving as creator, writer and producer on "Ed," Burnett made his directorial debut in February 2003.
The two teamed up again in 2006 to form B&B Productions where they share the co-presidential title. Under the B&B banner, Burnett and Beckerman created the half-hour, single-camera comedy, "The Knights of Prosperity," about a group of blue-collar guys who decide to rob Mick Jagger. Premiering in 2007 on ABC, the show was a joint venture between Touchstone Pictures, Worldwide Pants Inc., and B&B Productions.
Burnett was born July 8, 1962 in North Caldwell, NJ. He graduated in 1984 from Tufts University, where he majored in English and played varsity soccer. Burnett lives with his wife, Eunice, their daughters, Sydney and Lucy, and their son Charlie.
